Fire Alarm Design

Constructed during the 1970’s, these apartments consist of four residential towers connected through several levels of underground parking. It includes a multiple node addressable fire alarm system with four Central Alarm Control Facilities and 31 nodes through-out the buildings. The fire alarm system replacement included changing from one system manufacturer to another while keeping the existing system active during the changeover. The fire alarm switch over was done on a floor-by-floor basis over the span of 2 years. The fire alarm network was racked on site and the system network and sequence of operations was tested before the nodes were distributed through the buildings. At the time the system was being installed it was Mircom’s largest networked system ever built.
